The Time Has Come

Deep bows to you all. I hope that this newsletter finds your well. As the title of this entry indicates, the time has come for the Edmonton sangha to start its practice. First, a few introductory pieces:

  • The caretaking council for the Sangha (Alda, Lucy, Aaron) have started the sangha with a new name “Going as a River”. The name is based on a reference in dharma talks and also Thay’s teaching. It is a reference to the Second Dharma Seal, which speaks to going into phase with one another. It also has a geographical significance in that the North Saskatchewan River flows through the heart of the City of Edmonton. Lucy also pointed out that there is a resonance with the Cree name “Saskatchewan”, which means “swift flowing river”. So, everything seemed to come together, making “Going as a River” a natural choice.

  • The Sangha has set an ongoing practice space at Yoga Within (8135 102 St NW #302, Edmonton, AB). Please see below for some updated practice information.

  • The caretaking council met, and we will be looking to incorporate the Sangha officially as a society in Alberta and open a bank account for those who wish to provide dana. More information will follow on this.

  • The Sangha now has a dana (financial support) though PayPal or Buy A Cup of Coffee. If you are interested in supporting the Sangha, you can do so in a recurring membership or a one-time payment. You can support the Sangha here

Now…our practice. Originally, we planned to meet in person, starting October 21, 2022. However, we have had to hold off on in-person practice until November 2022. So, for the first few practices, we will be doing online only (via Zoom). If you are interested in participating, please email goingasariver@gmail.com

Practice will start on October 21, 2022, on Zoom. It will run from 7pm-9pm.

Please contact us if you have questions or to receive the Zoom details.

A lotus for you, a Buddha to be.
